We have a Chihuahua that is partly bald. It's strange. She grows no hair on her underside, and although she has a lot of hair on her back, she looks partly bald on her head. She has always been that way, since we've had her. Her hair is black with some brown points, and her skin has a pinkish/maroon hue. To me she is very beautiful. I was thinking about researching the Chihuahua breed because I know there are hairless Chihuahuas, and I wonder if they came from the Xoloitzcuintli hairless breed from Mexico. Our dog looks like she has Xoloitzcuintli in her, but I don't know for sure. We took her trout fishing in a deep river canyon near Schofield Lake, Utah last summer and she had fun helping catch fish, although she got cold and tired walking so far in and around the creek. It was a long hike! Her favorite thing to do at home in the fall, winter, and spring is lay in the sun from a nearby window.
Do any of you have this problem, where one spouse thinks dogs should just live outside and the other is perfectly fine having them sleep on the bed? I grew up with dogs in the house but my husband did not, and we have walked a delicate line having a dog in the house. She is not allowed on the bed and rarely allowed in the bedroom, but we let her sit with us on the couch. She has her own little bed with a blanket in her cage, but I think she gets lonely sometimes. I guess it's better not to spoil an animal, though, otherwise it ends up being the boss instead of a friend or a pet! Here are a few pictures of her.
